"Space Encounters"

England's late, great Peter Knight was musical director for this special and not only arranged a seamless segue from the first theme to the second, but also executed a masterful "takedown" of the John Williams scores. As the producers of this special thought the American public could not sit through a pianist and orchestra performing this piece without getting itchy, they employed laser beams, pyrotechnics and explosions to hopefully keep one's attention. It may have, but it detracted from the music, which is much more enjoyable in its original form.
